Austin Dyer Named ACAC 2024-25 Volleyball Coach of the Year
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Austin Dyer of the Lakeland Rustlers has been named the ACAC Women's Volleyball North Coach of the Year.
Dyer is a fully certified Level 3 coach with a Master of Education in Coaching Studies. During his 16 years as head coach of the Lakeland women's volleyball program he has guided his team to 3 national titles, as well as a national silver and bronze medal. This current season, the Rustlers women's team finished the regular season with a 19-0 record, a perfect 57 set wins and only one set loss. In those 57 set wins, opponents eclipsed 22 points just 5 times.
This is the fourth time Dyer has received ACAC Coach of the Year honoursand third time since 2020. He also received the CCAA Coach of the Year Award in 2023, when the Rustlers went 24-1 to win their second national title.
"Coach Dyer continues to build a strong women's volleyball program at Lakeland that excels on the court," Athletic Director Alan Rogan said. "More important than winning matches, he is a positive mentor to many young women who excel in all areas of being a student athlete."
Dyer's focus on the complete student athlete showed in the first semester,with the teams average Grade Point Average being 3.39. He also encourages student athletes to be coaches with the Rustler club program and volleyball camps. Over his career, Dyer has also mentored several volleyball coaches many who have gone on to coach at the club, secondary school and or post-secondary levels. Four Rustler women's volleyball players were recognized on Senior Day earlier this semester.
We are extremely proud of Coach Dyer and everything that he has built at Lakeland and will continue to cheer on the team this weekend at the ACAC Women's Volleyball Championship in Camrose.
This prestigious award was recognized at the 2025 ACAC Women'sVolleyball Championship hosted by University of Alberta Augustana.
