Varga Earns ACAC North Player of the Year for Second Straight Season
February 22 at the ACAC Women's Volleyball Championships hosted by Red Deer Polytechnic, the ACAC announced Jenay Varga as the 2022-23 ACAC Women's Volleyball North Player of the Year.
Jenay was a pivotal contributor to the Rustlers Volleyball Program, helping the team secure a 17 - 1 record, amassing 56 wins and only three losses during the regular season. The Rustler's record earned the team top spot in the North Division and the best record in women's volleyball in the ACAC. During the regular season she led all women's volleyball student athletes in the ACAC with 229 kills, and a 4.09 kill per set percentage. Varga also was the top player in serve aces with 45 and a 0.80 aces per set average. Jenay's impressive stat line shows the all-around dominant player that she has become at Lakeland.
"Jenay is a soft spoken, quiet leader, who leads by example. She is the humblest elite athlete that I have ever come into contact with", commented Head Coach Austin Dyer "Jenay is a true teammate, always putting her teammates first. Her work ethic is hard to match, which has allowed her to succeed in all areas of our program. I'm extremely proud of the person and athlete that Jenay has become."
Varga is from Muenster, Saskatchewan and currently in her 3rd year of eligibility. She is working towards her Bachelor of General Studies degree. Congratulations on a fantastic season Jenay!
