Women’s Soccer Off to a Record start
The 2021 women's soccer program is off to a record start. The women's team is sitting with a 3 – 0 – 1 record at the top of the ACAC north division with two games remaining in the regular season.
In the team's first weekend of competition, the Rustler women started the season off with a nail-biting 2 -1 win over the Grande Prairie Wolves. The next day the women followed it up with a convincing 10 – 0 victory over the Portage Voyageurs.
In week two of competition the Rustlers competed against the always tough NAIT Ooks on their home pitch. The Rustlers played a strong defensive game and left the Edmonton Scottish field with a 0 – 0 tie.
This past weekend the Rustlers returned to Edmonton, but this time to take on the King's University Eagles. The rookie-laden Rustlers played another solid match keeping their undefeated record in tack with a 2 – 0 victory. With two games remaining in the regular season the Rustlers will be competing this upcoming weekend to secure first in the North and secure home-field advantage for the Conference playoffs.
Veterans Nicole Pruim, only allowing one goal in 4 games, and Kimberlea Pfeil leading the team in scoring with 5 goals, have been a big part of the Rustler's success to date. The biggest strength of the team this year though has been that player has been contributing in a big way to help the Rustlers achieve the positive results they have to date.
