Lakeland Rustlers Weekend Recap - March 13
While the women's volleyball team was winning a national championship, other Rustlers teams were also participating in postseason action.
Women's hockey were in action against the Red Deer Queens for their first playoff series in program history.
The Rustlers had Game 1 on the road and came out strong, outshooting the Queens 11-8. Mykayla Pylypow scored to tie the game at 1, assisted by Mackena Foisy & Janay Williams. However, the Queens pulled ahead in the second and held it till the buzzer.
In Game 2, Lakeland spotted Red Deer a 2-0 lead and had to battle back with a bevy of scoring chances in the second, with Hailey Carothers scoring from Kylie Perry & Kennedy Taylor. Unfortunately, the Queens regained their two-goal lead on a power play minutes later and despite the Rustlers best efforts, RDP went on to win 3-1.
The women's team ends their inaugural ACAC having shown the league they can compete with the best the ACAC has to offer.
