Rustlers Weekend Recap - November 24, 2025
Lakeland College had a more quiet weekend in the world of athletics than some institutions but still featured several victories by the Rustlers teams.
Rustlers Hockey
Women's hockey was the lone program to host an event, with a home and away against the RDP Queens. Heading into the contest, the two squads were tied with 7 wins and fans were anticipating a physical contest.
The Rustlers had most of the momentum to start the game, getting a goal from Keyra Buziak just minutes into the opening period. A series of powerplays over the next 30 minutes eventually resulted in Addison Eurich finding the back of the net, putting the home side up 2-0. However, the Queens didn't go away, scoring with a second remaining in the frame to cut the lead in half and despite being outshot in third, scored late again to send the contest to overtime. There, the Rustlers went to work on the power play again, with Buziak notching the winner, off help from Eurich and Alexa Kobley. Schay Camphaug made 19 saves for the win.
Women's hockey generated scoring chances early again on Saturday, but through 35 minutes, the Queens were able to hold off the league's best offence. Finally, Eurich put the Rustlers ahead and an Olivia Mann tally midway through the third sealed the 2-0 victory. Paige Fischer made 18 saves to earn the shutout.
Buziak now leads the league in goals (11) and points (18). Claudia Lammers, Marley Dumanski, Mann and Eurich all sit in the top 10 in points, as Lakeland sits comfortably in first place, holding the season tiebreaker over RDP.
Rustlers Volleyball
Men's volleyball hit the road for an important south division series, starting in Caronport, SK against the Briercrest Clippers. After a hard fought first set, where the Rustlers won 26-24, the Clippers applied steady service pressure and a quick offence to win the match in four (24-26, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22). Aiden Maier had 9 kills, 3 blocks and 3 digs in the loss.
The following night, Lakeland responded well against a young Medicine Hat team, winning 3-0 (25-14, 31-29, 25-18.
