Rustlers Weekend Recap - October 27, 2025
Lakeland College Athletics is now in the quietest stretch of the 2025-2026 collegiate season, starting with good signs of growth on the court.
Rustlers Basketball
The Rustlers basketball teams had a home and away series with the Concordia Thunder over the weekend, a key test in different respects for each team. The women were facing a contender for first in the North Division with post Alex McLaren making her debut, while the men were hoping to maintain their pace against the Keyano Huskies in the race for first.
On Friday, the women had their best performance of the season in an 82-53 loss, playing the Thunder close to even through two quarters. Kate Rever was player of the Game, scoring a team high 12 points. Saturday was a tougher outing, with the Thunder shutting down any chance of momentum on offence. Reese Fenrich had a game high 13 rebounds and a team high 9 points.
The men swept the weekend, winning 78-54 and 89-82. Taleh Wade had a monstrous weekend, leading the team with 24 points and 10 rebounds on Friday and 23 points and 14 rebounds Saturday. In the home victory, all five starers scored in double digits and guard David Dimaano had 15 points off the bench on Saturday. This improves the team to 3-1 on the season.
What's Coming Up
Next up for the basketball squads is a road trip to central Alberta, where they will face the Olds Broncos on Friday and Red Deer Polytechnic on Saturday. Tip off is 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm both evenings.
