The Lakeland Rustlers Women's Soccer team was at home over the Thanksgiving weekend, playing just one game against the Red Deer Queens Saturday afternoon.
The Rustlers struggled to keep the ball out of their end early on, while the Queens seemed to control the ball and the game. The pressure applied by the Queens gave them numerous shots on net, leading to two goals in the 12th and 28th minutes. The Rustlers were able to gain control of the ball late in the first half and have several shots on goal, but unable to score, giving Red Deer the 2-0 halftime lead.
The Rustlers once again found the ball in their defensive end early in the second half, as the Queens controlled the ball early on. The Rustlers found ways to clear the ball from their end, and have scoring chances, but were unable to capitalize on their shots on net. The Queens added to their lead, with goals in the 70th and 75th minutes, giving them the 4-0 win.
Player of the Game for the Rustlers was first year fullback, #4 Sterling Cannan.
